Morocco (Arabic: المغرب, al-Maġrib), officially the Kingdom of Morocco (Arabic: المملكة المغربية) is a country in northern Africa bordering Algeria to the east, Spain to the north, and its Western Saharan territories to the south. It has a long coastline on the Atlantic Ocean which reaches past the Strait of Gibraltar into the Mediterranean Sea. Morocco claims ownership of Western Sahara and has administered most of the territory since 1975. The status of Western Sahara is disputed, pending a United Nations referendum.
