2692 AM) was a son of Elimelech and Naomi and husband of Ruth. He married Ruth in Moabite country, lived there for ten years more, and then died. (Ruth 1:1-5 ) His death, and that of his brother, left their father's estate in jeopardy until Boaz redeemed it. (Ruth 4:1-12 )
