Jerahmeel (Hebrew: ירחמאל, Yerachmeʼēl; "God will be compassionate") (b. ca. 2349 AM1654 BC
2106 He
2349 AM) was the first named son of Hezron and a clan leader in the tribe of Judah.
Genealogy
Among the descendants of Jerahmeel is a man named "Nathan," who might be Nathan the prophet during the time of David.[1]
Date of birth
Jerahmeel is part of the first of three generations between the birth of Hezron and the birth of his great niece Elisheba. She was likely born in 2454 AM, and Hezron was born in 2298 AM. These three generations span 156 years, and so Jerahmeel's brother Ram was probably born in 2350 AM. So Jerahmeel was born a year earlier, if not sooner.
Geography
The clan of Jerahmeel inhabited the south country of the territory of Judah in the Land of Israel. (1_Samuel 27:10 )
