Arguments against theistic evolution

The primary challenge to theistic evolution is the genealogical record and the point at which exegesis becomes historical-grammatical or simply a plain reading of scripture. Many theistic evolutionists believe that Adam was not a real man, yet the Bible clearly treats him as such within the books of Genesis and Chronicles which contain the ancestral record from Adam to Noah. The book of Luke repeats this genealogy from Adam to Jesus.
Those who criticize theistic evolution frequently argue that Genesis is so inextricably intertwined with Judaeo-Christian-Islamic theism as to be inseparable. While the first chapter of Genesis may be interpreted as allegory; the creationism theme runs throughout the rest of Genesis and into the New Testament.
The biblical genealogy of Genesis 5 is not allegorical as some proponents of theistic evolution put forth. The allegorical intent of the specific years and dates given for those people, the year at which they had the next son in their line, and the year they died all imply real people born into this world by other real people. Likewise the Table of Nations and the references to Noah by Jesus and Peter in the New Testament are ways to determine the historical realness of such events and people.

Yom As a 24 Hour Day
It is clear in the Genesis writing that it was the separation of light and darkness that created a Yom. The only natural measurement that equals that of the day/night cycle in Genesis is determined by the earth's rotation speed. So for a Yom to mean a million years would mean that the change from light to darkness would take that long. We know this not to be the case as scientific observation can conclude.
If in fact a million years equalled one day it would mean the earth's rotation would have been to slow to support life. Earth or any planet that rotates that slow would have burned up on one side, and frozen on the other. Furtheremore, years are actually established in Genesis 1:14.
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: Genesis 1:14 (KJV)
So Days were created before years. Besides, you have to have days before you can get years. So the order of the creation of time is correct. Because if years were created before days, then you could not answer how many days it takes to make a year.
Order of Events
The order of events proposed by the general theory of evolution is the strikingly different than those of the creation in the book of Genesis.
| The Bible | Evolution theory | Exact opposite? |
|---|---|---|
| 1) Earth before sun. | 1) Sun before earth. | Yes |
| 2) Oceans before land. | 2) Land before oceans. | Yes |
| 3) Light before sun. | 3) Sun before light. | Yes |
| 4) Land plants first. | 4) Marine life first. | Yes |
| 5) Fruit tree before fish. | 5) Fish before fruit tree. | Yes |
| 6) Fish before insects. | 6) Insects before fish. | Yes |
| 7) Plants before sun. | 7) Sun before plants. | Yes |
| 8) Marine animals before land animals. | 8) Land animals before marine animals. | Yes |
| 9) Bird before reptiles. | 9) Reptiles before birds. | Yes |
| 10) Man brought death in the world. | 10) Death brought man into the world. | Yes |
| 11) God created man. | 11) Man created God (out of need). | Yes |
| 12) Atmosphere between 2 layers of water. | 12) Atmosphere above water. | Yes |
| 13) All life was created by God. | 13) All life just happened, and evolved. | Yes |
| 14) There is a Creator. | 14) There is no Creator. | Yes |
There is no middle ground in exact opposites. Because you cannot accept one without totally denying the other. When you choose evolution you also deny the trinity shown below:
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1John 5:7 (KJV)
Evolution of the Soul
The exact point at which God infused a soul into ancient hominids is a point of great speculation by theistic evolutionists. Because at what point would God consider an animal, in the evolution process, a created man in order to get a soul? Some would speculate that animals have souls. If so, how do you present salvation to one? Sounds silly don't it? But this is what theistic evolution makes people ponder because there are no creation rules to God's creation if God used evolution to do it. Man makes the rules, so man ponders on which way the rules can go without referring to God's word for answers.
If evolution was a part of how God created
If evolution was a part of how God created, then it could be used as a gospel subject to accomplish these things:
- Holding bible studies to learn more about God.
- Having theistic evolution crusades to bring more souls to Christ.
- Having theistic evolution missionaries to spread the word about Christ around the world.
- Street corner theistic evolutionist preachers.
- Tracts that show how theistic evolution can bring you to Christ.
These things do not exist because evolution itself can never be used to promote God, because what is the opposite of God cannot be used.
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:44 (KJV)
Theistic evolution cannot draw a person to God, when the main foundation of it denies God. This is why God will not draw anyone unto the Son through the teaching of this theory. For if it had any God drawing power what so ever, would not it be used for that?
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Matthew 7:16 (KJV)
Good fruit, which is a sign of God's approval, cannot be produced by something God does not approve of. And therefore His drawing power will not be in it either.
Theistic evolution vs. bible scoffers
God's word says there are five things that make a person a bible scoffer.
- 3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
- 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
- 5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
- 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 2Peter 3:3-6 (KJV)
- Own lusts: Their own ideas that are used to replace what is written in God's word. And they will lust after any means to which they can be made to look true.
- Question the return of Christ.
- Rejecting God's literal creation (knowingly ignorant).
- Denying a global flood (world being overflowed with water).
- Perish: Denying the judgement of the wicked due to the flood.
Theistic evolution makes a person have to deny four of the five things listed in God's word. Which makes the theistic evolutionist 4/5 on his or her way to being a full fledged bible scoffer. Just one more thing needed to be denied, and that is the return of Christ. So theistic evolution does not even mean you are hedging the fence in your belief. According to God's word, it means that theistic evolutionist would rather be mainly on one side of the issue (4/5 of it), and only have 1/5 the faith in God and His word. Can a person be 1/5th saved? What if Christ only went 1/5th the way to the cross for our sins?
