Saint Andrew (Greek: Ανδρέας, Andreas; "Name means::manly"[note 1]) was a disciple of Jesus, a Christian Apostle, and younger brother of Saint Peter. In the Orthodox tradition he is called Prōtoklētos, or the First-called. The name "Andrew" like many other Greek names, appears to have been common among the Jews, Christians, and other Hellenized peoples of the palestine region.
Notes
- ↑ The name Ανδρέας means manly, brave, from ἀνδρεία, Andreia, "manhood, valour"
