The Temple Mount (Hebrew: הַר הַבַּיִת, Har HaBāyit) or the Noble Sanctuary (Arabic: الحرم الشريف, al-Ḥaram ash-Sharīf) is a hotly contested religious site in the Old City of Jerusalem. It is the holiest site in Judaism, the third holiest site in Islam, and has special significance to Christianity.
Etymology
In hebrew, the name means the mount of the house (the house meaning the temple).
