Islamic creationism

Islamic creationism is the belief in a divine creation. Islamic creationists hold to the Qur'an as being the Word of God (Allah) and rely upon it for insights into the early history of the Earth.

Those holding to this view also look to science and logic for apologetics. Physical phenomena is interpreted by Islamic creation scientists based on the Islamic worldview rather than Godless naturalism. This worldview is in stark contrast to the Darwinian evolutionary perspective known as Darwinism.

Compare and Contrast with Biblical Creationism

Generally speaking, Islamic creationists agree with Biblical creationism on the core events of creation, but believe that Genesis is corrupted in some details.

For example:

Muslim creationists affirm that God created the Earth and life in 6 days, but also believe that he did not rest on the 7th day, because they believe God has no need for rest.

"We have created the heavens and the earth, and everything between them in six days, and no fatigue touched us." (Qur'an 50:38);

Muslim creationists affirm that Noah and three of his sons were saved from the flood in the ark, but also believe that Noah had a fourth son who rejected God and perished in the flood.

"So the Ark floated with them on the waves (towering) like mountains, and Noah called out to his son, who had separated himself (from the rest): 'O my son! embark with us, and be not with the unbelievers!'

The son replied: 'I will betake myself to some mountain: it will save me from the water.' Noah said: 'This day nothing can save, from the command of Allah, any but those on whom He hath mercy!' And the waves came between them, and the son was among those overwhelmed in the Flood." Qur'an 11:42-43.
