Violales is a taxonomic order of flowering plants, which includes the type genus viola (the violets) among a number of agriculturally important crops such as the watermelon, pumpkin and squash. The Angiosperm Phylogeny Group system does not recognize order Violales; but instead places Violaceae in the order Malpighiales.[2]
