Genus Allonautilus Genus Nautilus |
Nautilus is a cephalopod which is common and has survived for millions of years according to evolutionary thought. For that reason, the Nautilus is also known as common sea creature fossil called living fossil. But nowadays only 6 species' exist. They have prominent head and tentacles, usually the most Nautilus have more tentacles than normal cephalopods. The male Nautilus has 60 tentacles and female Nautilus has 90 tentacles; nautilus don’t have suckers or ink tank and their body is filled with salt water. For this reason, they are very different from the other cephalopods for example octopus, squid. Nautilus’s radula is wide and they have nine teeth. Nautiluses are only found in deep slopes of coral reef in the Indo Pacific.[1]

Anatomy
Nautilus has seven parts:
1.Shell - The hard covering which surrounds it.
2.Gonad
3.Digestive system - the set of organs in your body that digest the food you eat.
4.Intestine - The tubes in your body through which food passes when it has left your stomach.
5.Gills - the organs on the sides of fish and other water creatures through which they breathe.
6.Funnel - An object with a wide, circular top and a narrow short tube at the bottom.
7.Buccal mass
8.Brain - The organ inside your head that controls your body's activities and enables you to think and to feel things such as heat and pain.[2]
Reproduction
The nautilus is a sexually dimorphic animal; every female and male has this pattern. They reproduce by laying their eggs on rocks in shallow water. The eggs need 12 months to develop and born. Female Nautilus spawn once a year and they regenerate gonads; organ that makes gametes.[3]
Ecology
Nautiluses are carnivorous. They usually eat shrimp and sea urchin. The nautilus’s habitat place is usually in depths of about 300m marine; the shell of the nautilus can’t withstand depths greater than 800m (because of its depth). Nautiluses can only be found in the coral reefs of the Indo pacific ocean and pacific ocean.[4]
