Philip Schaff in 1887

Philip Schaff (Born::January 1, 1819Died::October 20, 1893), was a Protestant theologian and an outstanding Church historian.[1]

Biography

He was born in Chur, Switzerland and was educated at the gymnasium of Stuttgart, Germany. Sacrificing a prominent scholarly career he moved in 1843 to the United States to teach in the theological seminary of the German Reformed Church in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania.[1]
