I am a 25 year old Irish Creationist, born and bred in County Galway.

The Creationist worldview is not very common in Ireland. In fact I am the only one that I am aware of in the town where I live. My family and everyone in my town are Catholic. I was raised Catholic, and still attend Catholic services and consider myself Catholic. I was inspired by a comment the our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI made during his first speech as Pope. He said that we are not the chance result of evolution, but that each one of us is a direct result of God's will. His Holiness has shown great support to those who do not go along with the evolutionist view of human history. I studied veterinary medicine for several years before changing to a business course. I simply could not reconcile the fact that evolutionary biology was the only interpretation given for life on Earth, and how we were only allowed to understand current morphology in this light. When examining a dog's lungs for example, we were told to bear in mind that the lungs of mammals evolved from the swim bladder of fish! It was made to sound logical, but I could not help wonder why I needed to accept something like that, which is totally impossible to verify and more science fiction that fact, in order to treat a family pet with difficulty breathing!!

I have faced a lot of ridicule from my friends and family for my views, but I take this without any complaint as I know they only see through blinkered eyes. I am not out to convert anyone, but I have been successful in at least putting some doubt into the minds of some about what they have blindly believed all their lives.

I am hoping that as I explore CreationWiki's great resources that I may be able to spread this influence a little more. Once people start to question their reality, the True reality of God's magnificent and awe inspiring creation is there to be discovered. And what a discovery that is! How impotent evolution, geology etc. seems when compared to the works of the creator of all things. The 'awesome' Big Bang looks no more impressive than a matchstick in comparison. If science is allowed to be overtaken by these ideas, then science has no future. We condemn our grandchildren to impotent science that does not reflect the Truth and is therefore false, if we do not act now. Science has given us so many advances and enriched our lives for millennia. For most of that time every scientist alive had no doubt about creation. The advances we made were made in light of that. We would not have the scientific advances we have today if it weren't for those thousands of creation believing scientists. Modern geology and evolutionary biology are less than 200 years old. Pluto is no longer considered a planet. It took less than 100 years from it's discovery to it's status being downgraded. Now that is true science. It acknowledges when it is wrong and moves to correct itself. It is my belief that this kind of honest self-correction will in turn come to evolution and geology. Sooner rather than later, I hope!
