Traducianism is, according to Merriam Webster's, "a theological doctrine that the human souls of new infants are generated from the souls of their parents at the moment of conception much in the same manner as the generation of human bodies."[1]

Contrast with Creationism

Traducianism can be contrasted with Creationism, Creationism being the belief that GOD creates a soul for each created body. This is contrasted with Traducianism, which is the belief that the soul and body are "transmitted from Adam and Eve to all the following generations through coitus and procreation."[2]
