A theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world. In the scientific method, the theory is formed following the testing of a hypothesis and can incorporate facts and scientific law. It frequently exists as a belief that can guide behavior, or an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena.
