Usage

The {{Template:Chembox 1}} infobox should be used to describe chemical compounds for which few properties are known. When, as, and if article expansion warrants, replace with template:Chembox 2.

The {{Template:Chembox 1}} creates a table of statistics for a chemical compound and automatically annotates these as semantic properties.

The current list of fields that this template supports includes:

  • name - If the article name differs from the systematic name, specify this parameter to give the box a proper name and to annotate the compound by its proper name. The default is the name of the article.
  • image - Specify the full filename (with extension) of the available image. Default is example.jpg.
  • cpdtype - type of compound. Default is molecular.
  • formula - the simple formula of the compound. (Chembox 2 stores graphic formulas.)
  • molmass - the molar mass in g/mol
  • density - the density in g/ml
  • meltpoint - the melting point in degrees Celsius.
  • boilpoint - the boiling point in degrees Celsius.
  • tripoint - the triple point in degrees Celsius.
  • CAS - the CAS registry number.
  • smiles - the SMILES formula
  • organic - Say "yes" or any string to categorize this compound as organic; otherwise it is inorganic.
