I think we need a closer look at the chronology, This has implications for source of waters for flood.

	3 And the waters receded continually from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters decreased.	3 The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the water had gone down,	Flood waters begin decreasing after 150 days. Translation issues.
	4 Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.	4 and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.	Ark comes to rest 150 days after beginning of flood 7th mo. 17th day minus 2nd mo. 17th day = 5 mo. = 150 days
	5 And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.	5 The waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible.	8 mo. after beginning of flood Mt tops are visible

While I love the NIV, I think here that sadly the NIV translation is flawed. The KJV or NKJV seems much clearer and makes more sense. In the NIV the Springs and windows are opened and closed at the same time. The rains begin with the springs and windows, but the text does not say when the rains end though it does for the springs and windows. I think the KJV is saying at all three started and stopped at the same time. And the 40 days tell us the span of time that it rained till the Ark was raised up from the earth. Personally I would suggest the NASB version as the standard for all biblical quotes within CreationWiki articles. It is widely considered the most literal rendering of the Hebrew and Greek to English, that was the goal of its formation. --Tony 02:40, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

I would have no trouble using the NASB. But I believe that Ashcroft has decieded to go with the NIV. I like NIV, but for occasional inaccuracies which can be dealt with by reference to other translations as needed. Allenroyboy 00:51, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Note on recent edit

The section titled "30 oceans worth of water" present the same information as the section "Evidence and Plausibility". If am wrong about this, the information should still be moved to that heading anyways.
