This article gives the appearence that marxism and communism are the same thing. They are not. Communism is a form of goverment that Marx invisioned would appear in the future. Marxism is a way of viewing the world. He believe that the world going into communism was a natural process. He believed it to be unavoidable. Theoretically, you could be a marxist, but not a communism.
According to Marx, feudalism fell as an economic system because the divide between the rich and the poor was massive. The poor revolted and the new class that emerged was the merchant class (or the capitalist). Over time the capitalist form a new class to serve them. This new serving class will revolt and the process will continue until communism comes into existence because after each revolt, the economic distance between the rich and poor gets smaller.
My favorite Marx quote is "I am not a marxist". Marx's ideas , though wrong, were falsly used to justify communist goverments in our present day. According to marx, a communist goverment cannot exist in our present day. Thus, he did not ignore the middle class like the article says and communism is not giving all the power to the goverment. It's come about "naturally". It's unavoidable according to Marx. The communist governments we see today are Lennenist, not marxist.
I believe the main reasons why true communism is wrong is:
1) it assumes atheism 2) it has no historical backing. Weber showed that ideas and ideals seem to be the driving force of the economy, not the other way around. 3) it assumes a evolutionary view of man kind.
In conclusion, the article needs to make the distiction between communism the way marx viewed it and communism the way the red russian's viewed it. --Nlawrence 14:20, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
