The Biblical dates for the reign of Jehu and Assyrian historical records is synchronized by a Black Obelisk that was erected as a public monument in 825 BC. The obelisk shows Jehu paying tribute to the Assyrian emperor Shalmaneser III. The Assyrians date Shalmaneser's reign from 859-824 B.C., which corresponds well with the Biblical date of Jehu from 841-814 B.C. [1]

Details from the second side of the Black Obelisk of Shalmaneser III at the British Museum. (1) Tribute bearers of Jehu, King of Israel. (2) Tributary Animals. (3) Tribute bearers with shawls and bags.
