Summary

Portion of the Tapestry of Bayeux showing a comet that can only be Comet Halley, and a number of astronished onlookers, including Britain's King Harold, who lost the Battle of Hastings (1066) to William, Duke of Normandy, afterwards King William I (the Conqueror). The Latin inscription along the top of this portion translates as "These people look upon the star with wonder."
