Summary
Brought this little beauty on board our research vessel today during our Ocean Experience Excursion put on by the Aquarium. This was my first time assisting, and it was an absolute blast!
This is a female California Two-spot octopus (Octopus bimaculoides) which I estimate to be a little less than 2 feet long. She was not very happy when she was brought up from the water in our trap, but she soon settled down. She'll be released later today. Unfortunately you can't really make out too much detail, but she had brilliant blue rings as seen here.
