Summary

Ph.D. University of Southern California 1969. Sedimentology and paleobotany

General Interests: Harold Coffin's critical work unraveling the story of the Yellowstone "Fossil Forests" led him to be the first scientist to enter the region of Spirit Lake following the devastating Mt. St. Helens eruption in 1982. He continues to study the geology of the Pacific Northwest.

Current Research: Harold is presently revising a book on the issues of science and religion, and conducting on-going field work on the geology of the Pacific Northwest.[1]
