Summary
The Burdick Track is a human footprint in Cretaceous limestone found in the Cross Branch stratum, a tributary of the Paluxy River in Glen Rose, Texas. It has been the source of controversy due to its "perfection" of shape, and has been considered by some to be a carving. In 1990 Director Carl Baugh and geologist Don Patton did extensive research to verify its authenticity. Since the track had been removed many years ago from the river, the original site needed to be found. This was done by following leads from Glen Rose " old timers" who provided clues as to its original location. After several days of searching a stratum exposed by Cross Branch appeared to match the Burdick Tracks matrix (ivory tan color; fine grained, crystalline calcite inclusions). A lapidary expert cut a thin slice from both the Burdick Track and the Cross Branch stratum. It was a match.
