Evolution does not explain how humans became so intelligent.

Talk Origins response is based on two assumptions.
- That the human mind is entirely materialistic. That is that the mind and brain are one and the same. Put more simply, if the soul exists then evolution has no hope of producing the human mind. For the record there is empirical evidence of the existence of the soul.
- That random mutations and natural selection can produce something as highly organized and complex as the the human brain. Since Statistical Thermodynamics says this can not happen, Evolutionists need to provide some evidence that it can before they can that legitimately claim evolution has any chance of producing human intelligence.
Much of how larger brains evolved may be explained by neoteny, the prolonging of immature periods of development. Evolving a larger brain does not require large genetic change, just a relatively small change to keep the brain growing for a longer time.
Intelligence is about more than brain size, even if the human mind is nothing but brain. There is far greater correlation between brain size and body size than between brain size and intelligence. In fact, in humans it can be shown that a person with a smaller brain can be more intelligent than someone with a larger one.
Even if the human mind is nothing but brain, intelligence is more than brain size; it is also wiring. To show that Evolution has any chance of producing an intelligent being, Talk Origins has to show that random mutations and natural selection can produce something as highly organized and complex as the the human brain. However, Statistical Thermodynamics says this can not happen.
